Storm Wolves

History of the Storm Wolves - In brief

The Stormwolves are a religious group within the Wolves. Within their number is a Human incarna for every God in the Norscan Pantheon. Myst represented all the Aesir.

The group is led by the Mind, the Body and the Heart of the StormWolves.  - The Heart is always Myst.

The Body represents the physical might of the Stormwolves. He leads the Warriors into battle and is responsible for all things martial.

The Mind is the thought and Spirituality of the Group. He guides the priest and mages and look after the wellbeing of the group.

Within the group there are other key postsMaster Healer and Master Watcher are two of the most prominent.

The group live on the Isle of Myst, the principle temple and Stronghold. They have many churches spread throughout Norsca where they seek to aid the people and recruit new members to their men at Arms.

Each member of the group is chosen and tested by the Gods, in particular the God that they will be an incarna to.

They are stalwart and loyal. Their devotion and faith are absolute. For a Stormwolf, the world is all absolutes, black or white. There is no grey.

Members of the Stormwolves:

Jarl Gunn: -

Leader of the Stormwolves, and like all Stormwolves, his past before becoming a Stormwolf is a mystery. Following the death of Lord Myst, Gunn assumed command of the group, and has led us to victory time and again. His mastery of the pole-arm is unequalled, and he is the one and only commander of the Stormwolves - no other will ever question his edicts.

Westag:

Master Healer to the Stormwolves. Has dedicated his life to Hel, and is second in her favour after Bjorne. One-time Seneschal of the Book of Odin, once married to Selene, father to Kiera. Lost his eye in a Ritual Circle a year ago. Very old, very crusty.

topreturn to top

Magnus:

Ambassador of the Stormwolves, especially to the Nomads and our fast friends The Tribe. Middle-aged, with magical and martial skills, Magnus is married and has several offspring, including Hagar. Uncharacteristically open-minded for a Stormwolf, his keen mind and cheery demeanour have earned him much respect.

topreturn to top

Selene: Stormwolf Ritualist.

Current Bearer of the Book of Odin and Odin's Runes. One time student and wife of Westag, mother to Kiera. Studied with the mystic Uthgra, along with the Bezerks, for many years before that part of her past was destroyed. Mostly extremely friendly and a natural mediator, but with a vicous streak reserved for those who hurt her or her friends.

topreturn to top

Thorfn:

'the Giant-Slayer'. Bearer of Thor's Hammer. An older Stormwolf, lending wise tactical advice and a fearsome arm to combat. Unequalled knowledge of biffing and gibbing. Essential to the Stormwolf shield-wall. Sworn oath-brother to Kjym.

Rurisk: 'Stormborn'.

Rurisk Stormborn was a foundling, discovered after a great storm in front of the doors to the Great hall of the tormwolves as a new born. Although he is a Trueblood no one knows who his parents where something which does haunt him somewhat. Known as a pessimist Rurisk has nevertheless managed to become camp Castellan for the wolves putting his paranoia to good use.

Finally he is a follower of Vidar, the blue runes burning on his face since healing Gunn during a Crimsonwolf attack.

Fierce warrior, and shield-maiden extraordinaire. Often called to guard diplomatic envoys, since she is somewhat more event-tempered than most Stormwolves. Loves the Gods as no male can.

Vorstan:

Healer and skirmisher. Tends to pop up behind people and scare the living **** out of them.

topreturn to top

Hagar:

Skirmisher and son of Magnus. Recent addition to the Stormwolves, and a valiant warrior as well as following in his father's diplomatic footsteps.

Hengist - brother to Olaf, and greatest of all Stormwolf warriors

Hengists father was a farmer. It was a hard life, and not one Hengist felt himself suited to, but he would do his best. When his father and brother olaf were at the market, he would be off playing in the woods and hills.
After some years, Hengists father began feeling lonely, and took himself a wife. A pretty young thing, by name of 'Unnr the wayward'. Shortly thereafter, finding his young wife bedding his shield-brother, he took his axe, and slew them both. Subsequent to his father being declared outlaw, Hengist was honour-bound to hunt him down and kill him.
After months of searching, he finally found a trail. Seeing what his father in his madness had done, his resolve grew. Following with a renewed sense of purpose, Hengist finaly caught up with him. Filthy, stinking and snarling, Hengist and his father circled. Pushed by pride and honour, Hengist slew his own father...but not before he had been imparted the truth of the tale. Hengist headed home.

Not much is known of what happened upon his return, but to this day, the ground is blackened as if by flame. The fields are untillable, ...and no bodies were ever found.

Being found by his brother Olaf, upon his return from a raiding venture afar, Olaf volunteers his ship and crew to transport Hengist, some volunteers from neighboring villages and supplies, to a place of his choosing. There to establish a colony, with Hengist as Jarl. But first, there was to be a feast in Olafs honour ( At least, this was Olafs excuse for an allmighty pissup! ).

Hengist, unlike Olaf, is not much of a seafarer. And so was not expecting what was to come. Drunkenly, Olaf pointed the ship in the wrong direction... and lost sight of land ( obviously due to invisible underwater currents, pushing us out to sea ). Out on deck, trying to catch sight of the demons Olaf claimed were rocking the boat, Hengist was washed overboard ( nothing to do with Olafs seamanship, honest ).
Unfortunately, the crew was too drunk to notice this. And so, Hengist drifted for days, before finding himself in a deep fog... yet not fog. Dense, like smoke; not choking, but stifling; cold, yet not damp. And totally impenetrable. Washed upon a rocky shore, Hengist could move no further. He awoke late the next day, to a numbing feeling in his right eye. Coming slowly to his senses, and moving weakly, he disturbed a great raven. Unperturbed, it hopped back a few feet, before attempting to return to it's feast. Blood washing from his eye, and maddened by pain, Hengist lurched upright. Blindly crawling, and dragging himself over the darkened landscape... towards the only light he could see. The open portal of a great longhall.

Kiera:

Magic-user and ritualist. Daughter of Selene and Westag. Stubborn, moody and capricious - the best traits her parents had available to give her. Rumours abound of who this attractive young Stormwolf is courting - Hagar and Bjorne among others are thought to be suitors. Her bodyguard is Taran.

topreturn to top

Kestrel was the seventh daughter of a woodsman and due to the disappointment of her parents, she was left out on an exposed hillside (the White Rock) in the centre of the forest to die. However, an old woman passing took her in and taught her woodcraft and the skills of the ranger.
When Kestrel was 16, her 'mother' revealed herself to be non other than Gullveig the Triple Goddess (who is also Freya) and she sent Kestrel on a quest to find herself which culminated in her travelling to to the Isle Of Mist over the sea. There she has been finding her own place in the Stormwolves and proving her worth in battles and her keep as a ranger. Her ambition is to become a fully fledged member of the Sisterhood of Freya, always remembering that her life belongs to Gullveig and may be called on at any time.
Sanguine Casimir Redshirt is incarna of Bragi and the skald of the Stormwolves.
Known for his song and story, irreverence and light-heartedness, he is a less-than-typical Valhalla-bound warrior, especially for one born to the Isle of Myst. He is known as a man who thinks too much and makes mock of the wrong things on occasion, and his mirth is punctuated by sudden bouts of a bleak and gloomy mood.
He is also associates with bards and singers of other factions, and other unsound types. Whilst not actually known for his valour in battle, his iron-shod staff has struck a few blows in the past.

Taran:

Bodyguard to Kiera. Skirmisher. Distrustful of most, especially men courting his charge, he is nevertheless an honourable and strong Stormwolf.

Olaf: Bezerker. - Deceased

Wears a loincloth. Carries a big axe. Loves Selene, the God Modi, and hunting rabbits. Please do not feed the bezerkers.

topreturn to top

(I think that is Olaf on the right - I am sure that he will kill - I mean tell me if I am wrong)

Zogg: Bezerker. Deceased

Wears a loincloth. Carries a big hammer. Loves Selene, the God Modi, and hunting rabbits. Please do not feed the bezerkers.

topreturn to top

(I think that is Zogg on the left - Selene is definitely the one in the middle)

Moonshadow: deceased - Renewal 1102

Acolyte of Hel, and Mistress of Her Church in the Black Wolf Lands. A powerful magic-user, as befits a disciple of the Goddess of Magic.

topreturn to top

Ulwe:

Strong skirmisher, headstrong and tending to wander off in search of lone battles.

topreturn to top

Ristan: 'the Bastard'.  Master Healer

One-time bondsman to the Stormwolves, now warmly accepted as one of us. Gravelly-voiced healer and warrior, recently given the honour of wearing the Turncap and dedicated his life to Forseti, God of Justice. Is now periodically mentally unstable.

Balba:  - Turns out to be the God of Lies - Loki - Many of us were deceived

In other parts of this site you will find mention of this character....
But at the end of the day he was a Stormwolf - and once a Stormwolf.......

see Command

topreturn to top

Agna : the healer

An old-timer Storm Wolf, happy to tell of his early exploits (?) on the battle field, but more often found skulking in the shadows, or hiding in the bushes waiting to use his healing skills. Agna now scorns the use of any weapons, preferring speed on the battlefield, and judicial use of healing where required. Happy to bluff his way into any camp, and any company, Agna  hides his corporeal powers and provides assistance in the Ritual Circle, where he acts as a balance to the High Ritualist Selene. At all other times he can be found drinking, preferably in female company, in which he is most likely to propose marriage to anyone and everyone, eligible or otherwise, (rather to the chagrin of Agnes - his wife!!)   topreturn to top

Agnes : the Alchemist (and Camp Mother)

Agnes is camp-mother, and you had better not get in the way of her serving spoon!! She is likely to bowl into the command tent totally oblivious of decorum or protocol to announce that dinner is served. She can be found in the Wolves Kitchen serving up breakfast and dinner for hungry wolves or passing waif. She presides over one of the Wolves Alchemy Laboratories, and was in the past once found to be brewing poisons, a task frowned on in the Wolves Camp. She is married to Agna, and may be found rounding on his prospective new "brides".    Outranking him atrociously - she is now personal cook to Thane Wall.

When the call came she travelled with the rest of the Storm Wolves to the grand Renewal of Magic on Fir Cruthen lands in 1000 Witnessed up close the rupturing of the Circle by Casboeth after she’d been responsible for it’s protection. After the death of Myst that same ritual her beliefs were so shaken that she decided to withdraw from the Isle and the Storm Wolves for a while. Meanwhile she’s met the then Fir Cruthen beastman Lladdfa with whom she’s got three cubs.

After receiving hospitality at Lord Valarkins castle the two of them have been seen together on numerous occasions. Lunde has decided that she feels that the Gods have choosen a different path for her on this world and has in a ritual asked permission to leave the Storm Wolves.
